When Dr. Willoughby is not at his Bayview Dental Studio, in South Surrey, BC., he is available by appointment in his Prince George, BC dental clinic where his focus is on General, Implant, Cosmetic Dentistry, TMJ and Sleep Disordered Breathing. At both of these clinics and the surrounding areas, Dr. Willoughby has developed a well earned reputation within the dental and healthcare community.

Education & Post Graduate Activities

Dr. Willoughby graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Manitoba in 1988 with awards in crown and bridge work and operative dentistry.  His focus is on helping patients with complicated cosmetic needs using either Invisalign® aligner trays, fixed banding or a combination of all-porcelain crowns, dental implants, or unique precision attachment partial dentures and over-dentures. Dr. Willoughby uses his Neuromuscular expertise to treat patients with TMJ pain and Sleep Apnea utilizing state of the art K7 Diagnostic computer equipment.

Dr. Willoughby is a strong proponent of on-going post-graduate training so that he and his dental team can always stay abreast of the latest clinical techniques and procedures and thus provide his patients with the very latest diagnostic and treatment options.

Dr. Willoughby is also a dental consultant, business adviser and analyst to several US-based healthcare companies. He is also the Chairman and Founder of VeraSIL Therapeutics Inc., which is focused on the utilization of nanotechnology in Dentistry.

Publications

Dr. Willoughby has been published in several international journals, including;

• Feature articles in both the Summer and Fall 2013 edition of the American Academy of Cosmetic Orthodontics (“AACO”). The article was a 2 Part series entitled “Treating a Clear Aligner Therapy Patient who develops Cranio-Mandibular Dysfunction during the course of Orthodontic Treatment”
• In the December, 2012 edition of another prestigious US Dental publication called “the Progressive Dentist” Dr. Willoughby was interviewed, as part of a 6 page feature article, for his companies groundbreaking work with Nanotechnology in Dentistry.

Community Involvement

Community involvement for Dr. Willoughby extends from local fundraising initiatives to global dental health. He has been a strong supporter of The Bhutan Dental Mission, which is a non-profit initiative that brings high-quality dental care to the remote regions of the Himalayan country of Bhutan.

 

Experience

Dr. Willoughby’s goal is to try and help improve treatment outcomes and reduce post surgical discomfort and healing times for his patients. He is recognized for being progressive, experienced, multi-disciplined, and has been involved with Dentistry for over thirty years.  Prior to being a Dentist Dr. Willoughby was a trained Dental Lab Technician. Dr. Willoughby has been placing dental implants since 1993 and has extensive experience with bone grafting techniques and reconstructing peoples bites and smiles using both tooth and implant supported porcelain crowns and bridgework.  Many of Dr. Willoughby’s implant placements are done using state-of-the-art CT guided implant protocols. Dr. Willoughby also has great deal of experience treating patients with combined implant and tooth borne over-dentures.

Dr. Willoughby is also a business adviser, consultant, and analyst to the healthcare industry. He has been a certified lecturer with both the American Dental Association and the American Dental Hygiene Association, and is also a published author and consults with several dental healthcare manufacturers on the development of new dental products.

Dr. Willoughby has an unparalleled passion for dentistry which extends far beyond his full time cosmetic dental practice and into the manufacturing and intellectual property development side of the dental market. He has considerable expertise in the manufacturing and development of innovative new health care products and in the licensing and technology transfer of related intellectual property. Several products commonly used in dental clinics throughout Canada and the USA were developed by Dr. Willoughby.

Personal Interests

When Andrew is not immersed in the business of dentistry, he is either driving one of his prized sports cars, reading, travelling and shopping with his wife Denise or spending time with either their 3 children, 5 grandchildren or 4 schnauzers – Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot and their new baby teacup schnauzer Sauvey…. did we forget to mention Andrew is also an avid collector of fine wines!
