Comprehensive Exams
Dr. Willoughby utilizes intra-oral cameras, digital x-ray’s, soft and hard tissue lasers and K7 Diagnostic computer equipment to evaluate the condition of his patients teeth, gums, TM Joints as well as the surrounding hard and soft tissues of the head and neck. This is ALL part of a comprehensive dental exam – to help more accurately diagnose your oral condition and then provide you with the most appropriate and up-to-date treatment options.
Preserving your teeth
There is nothing quite as strong and durable as you own natural tooth enamel so when fillings and or crowns are required, Dr. Willoughby always attempts to restore your teeth in the most conservative manner possible, preserving as much of your natural tooth structure as he can. As long as the tooth being restored has healthy supporting bone and gum tissue it makes no difference as to your age or the type of restoration required – Dr. Willoughby will always give you the option to restore your teeth with the strongest, safest, most durable and esthetically pleasing materials available.
Replacing missing teeth
There are usually several options available when you want to replace missing teeth and the ultimate choice has to do with a multitude of issues including your bite, the condition of the remaining teeth, the health of your surrounding teeth, gum and bone, whether you smoke or not and your finances. Assuming that you have good oral health and you would prefer to replace your missing tooth or teeth with something that cannot be taken in and out of your mouth like a partial denture then Dr. Willoughby and his staff will take the time to explain the difference between a fixed bridge and a dental implant. Dental implants are permanently anchored into your jaw bone and can be used to replace a single tooth with a crown or multiple teeth with a bridge. More extensive implant treatments can be used to rebuild a collapsed bite using an implant supported overdenture. Dental implant surgery is usually fairly minor and the healing time is quick. Dental implants are the most permanent form of dentistry available, they have been around for almost 40 years and their success rate is 95+%. The treatment is highly predictable and the result is usually highly esthetic. Dr. Willoughby has been successfully placing and restoring dental implants since 1993.
Why do patients choose Dr. Andrew Willoughby and his Team to replace their missing teeth or stabilize their denture?
Four Reasons…
- Convenience – The implant and the crown were both done by a Dentist with extensive training and experience in the surgical placement and restoration of dental implants.
- Technology – Dr. Andrew Willoughby utilizes 3-D CT Scans, and a sophisticated treatment planning software, to place the implants in their optimal locations.
- Experience – Dr Willoughby has been placing and restoring implants since 1993.
- Comfort – Placing implants with a CT Scan guided technique is much more comfortable than the older techniques since the implant is placed through a tiny hole in the gum using a flapless procedure.
